Cultural hours in the Narrenschopf. For the locals, Fasnacht is the 5th season of the year. In winter - mostly in February - the town of Bad Dürrheim is in a state of emergency for a week. In the Narrenschopf, you can find out about this tradition all year round, view over 380 colorful carnival figures and learn about the background to the tradition on a guided tour. In 2014, the Central Museum of the Swabian-Alemannic Carnival was added to the national list of intangible cultural heritage.
Short hike with refreshments in the forest café. The trail starts directly at the Kapfwald apartments. After a "green" but steady climb through the local Kapfwald forest, you will reach the Waldcafé in around 30 minutes. There you can enjoy a good cup of coffee and a homemade Black Forest gateau - in good weather also on the beautiful terrace - and enjoy the wide view over the "Baar". In winter, when the snow conditions are good, a fantastic cross-country ski trail is prepared at the Waldcafé, which invites you to take part in sporting activities.
Get to know the birds in the area. The trail leads past the Kapfwald apartments, with information boards along the Bühlweg. The circular route then continues to the right along the Kapfwaldweg and back again via the Förstersteig, in the direction of the "Kurklinik Sonnenbühl" back via the Kurpark to the Kapfwald Appartements.
Schwenninger Moos - a "boggy affair". A one-hour hike takes you once around the Schwenninger Moos. You can also extend the hike and walk from Bad Dürrheim via the Wittmannstal into the Schwenninger Moos, or park at the parking lot in front of the Schwenninger Moos and take a comfortable loop. Water, birds and a wide variety of mosses and plant species can be found here. A worthwhile excursion destination at any time of year with ever-changing impressions.
